Baby Photography models
Baby Photography Models
You will have seen that recently I have being putting out requests for a few baby phtoography models so I thought it might be helpful to explain why I sometimes do this and why they are sometimes very specific in the model requests.
When I put out a call for a baby photography model it may be for a few different reasons:
Baby Photography models are ideal for launching a new photoshoot.
I may put out a request for a baby model to test out a new package idea. As was the case with the group of images below. I wanted to introduce a simple newborn photography package and needed to ensure I could create the images within the time frame of a mini session of 1 hour. The best way for me to be able to practise this was to get in a baby photogrpahy model and test out my ideas.
Sometimes I get an idea for a themed baby photoshoot in my head and it is important that I test the styling out before releasing it on sale. These sweet Autumn photoshoots are a great example of that. Practising with a baby photography model enabled me to ensure that I could offer a variety of images to create a mini gallery.
Testing new styling or props
I may put in a request for a baby photography model so I can experiment with ideas for set designs. It really would be unfair of me to dive straight in with a new idea with a paying client and it not work out. So the best thing to do is get a baby photography model into the studio and try the ideas I visalise. Below are some examples when I wanted to test out using real sunflowers within a newborn photoshoot. Sunflowers are my absoulate favourite flower and I loved experiementing with different set ups. A number of the images below will definately be amongst my competition entries next year.
The 3 images below were created using a baby photography model specfically to allow me to test out a new outift. I purchased the gorgous bear outfit and asked the prop supplier, Dream Oliva if she was able to make a bear for baby to hold. At the time it was not something she offered but agreed to make one and send it to me for free to trial for her. It was important that the subsequent images could be shared with her so a baby photography model was the perfect way to ensure this could happen. Within the set of images below is a composition image of baby on a shelf. Again this was done during a baby model call to allow me to practice getting the posing correct.
Practise
I like to use baby photography models as an opportunity to practice and fine tune my skills. Removing the pressure of needing to capture a full gallery of images for a client allows me to spend a little time experiementing with positions and angles and tweeking poses. This fine tuning can then later be transfered into regular sessions and leads to improvements in the images my clients receive.
Baby Photography models are ideal for marketing needs
I may put out a request for a baby photography model to allow me to capture one specfic image. I wanted to update some of my wall art samples in the studio and specfically wanted a picture of a little sitter in a bear outfit for a stunning deep framed canvas. Whilst I may get the image I want during a regular client session there is no guarentee that parents will consent to me using their child’s image for marketing purposes. Baby photography model calls are required to sign a release to allow me to use the images for my personal use and so sometimes it is quicker to put a call out than wait for the right image during a standard baby photoshoot.
So you can see there are lots of reasons I may put out a request for a baby photography model and sometimes they need to be specfic. All of my models recieve a selection of the images created via digital download as a thank you for helping me out so it’s great for them too. If you think you would like to help in the future then please follow my Facebook page as baby photography model requests are always advertised there.
