English Country Themed Wedding at The Queens Head, Nassington
3rd July 2016
When I first met Nikki and Mike to discuss their wedding photography and they told me about their plans for their wedding I was really excited. It was to be a relaxed fun day with lots of little quirks. Mike is a member of the Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the couple are keen boaters so both these details were incorporated into the day. Nikki and Mike chose the Queens Head at Nassington for their wedding day as it allowed their boating friends to moor their boats on the river that runs along the bottom of the grounds, it also has a lovely outdoor garden space that suited their BBQ and garden games idea. Thankfully the British weather was on their side and the sun shone all day.
Nikki arrived at the Queens Head having had her hair and make up already done, so all that remained to do were the finishing touches before heading down to the ceremony room. Never before have I attended a wedding with standing room only, the room was full to the max. Nikki and her beautiful bridesmaids looked radiant as they made their way down the Isle to meet a beaming Mike. The service was full of emotion, tears from Nikki and her Dad and laughter all round. Another first for me was the double fist pump on being announced man and wife.
After the formalities were over everyone headed out into the gardens for drinks and the formal photographs. In keeping with my usual style we worked through the group photographs in a way that made them fun and an integral part of the day, the highlight for me being when Nikki squeezed her dad’s behind instead of her groom’s and the groomsman re-enacted parts of their stag do.
The guests enjoyed relaxing in the grounds and enjoyed the garden games whilst the new Mr and Mrs Jackman took time to have their Couple Bridal Photographs. Including their boat was an integral part of the day, as was my adventure on a guests boat to allow me to capture stunning portraits on a nearby bridge. Pippa from PS Photography accompanied the couple round to the bridge whilst I took to the waters to get the best angle. Photographing from a boat is another first for me.
Even the speeches were in keeping with the relaxed theme. Guests gathered round in the gardens for more laughter and tears for emotional stories from the past. Speeches were followed by a garden bbq where guests were able to continue to enjoy the beautiful garden and I was able to record some of the finer details of the day.
As the weather started to turn the guests moved inside in time to witness the cutting of the cake and the first dance! Nikki and Mike had their first dance to my all time favourite song ‘Summer of 69’ so it was necessary to have a little bop in-between capturing the moment.
I never tire of capturing weddings, every single one is unique and special to the Bride and Groom and I love to see how the day unfolds.
A huge congratulations to Mr and Mrs Jackman. Thank you for letting me capture your day.
