Learning is never ending
1st June 2018
I have often shared posts on Facebook with you all about training I have undergone as part of my photography journey. I am a firm believer that you never stop learning and that to be the best newborn and children’s photographer I can be that I need to develop and improve my skills regularly.
Last year I invited the wonderful Claire Elliott from Forever Memories Photography to my studio for a 1:1 training day to work on my Newborn posing skills. I was so inspired by her teaching and everything that I learnt that I was quick to enrol for her 1 week residential training retreat in May of this year.
This course took place near Ashbourne in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, in a beautiful converted Barn. Myself and fourteen other likeminded photographers spent five wonderful days immersed in all things photography.
We studied from dawn to dusk (and that is no over-exaggeration), covering everything from photographing newborns, posing and styling for little sitters, toddlers and older children, lighting techniques, photographing outdoors, editing techniques, business management and for me the most important one, a session surrounding being a responsible photographer and baby / child first aid.
The week was very intense with lots of learning and hands on practise with some wonderful children and models, we even spent time practising on one another to capture some up to date head shots. It truly was an amazing week with a wealth of knowledge learnt and some amazing friends made.
I look forward to putting into practise what I have learnt with you all soon.
