Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a photographer is a task not to be taken lightly. You want to find someone that is perfect for your family and that you can be confident will capture your memories perfectly. I have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions I recieve in the hope it helps your decision making process easier.
When should I book?
This will depend on the session type you are considering. For newborns I encourage you to book before your 20 week scan if possible and for cake smashes at least a month in advance is ideal. However please do not worry if you you need to book a date closer than this, I will always do my best to accommodate you.
Can we have a photoshoot at the weekend?
Whist I do offer photography sessions at the weekend, spaces are very limited and get booked up well in advance. It is unlikely that I will be able to accomodate last minute bookings on a weekend. Newborn sessions will generally be midweek whilst Daddy is still on paternity leave with family photos accommodated at the weekend if neccessary.
At what age do you photograph newborns?
Ideally I like to photograph newborns within the first 2 weeks, my preference being when baby is 8 days old. However this does not mean that I can not capture beautiful pictures of your older newborn. It’s always worth dropping me a message to ask.
Where does the photoshoot take place?
All studio sessions take place in my purpose build garden studio in Whaplode, near Spalding. You can view details of the studio here. Home visits and outdoor sessions can also be arranged, however, there may be an extra charge.
What is included in the session fee?
The session booking fee that is paid when you book your photoshoot covers the time within the studio, full use of props, any personalilised set ups I have prepared, your cake (for cake smash photoshoots), and a full professional editing service. Unless specfically stipulated then no prints / digital files are included within this fee. All prints and products are purchased seperately at your viewing appointment.
How much do prints and products cost?
A full copy of the Product Purchase guide can be found here.
How long will the photoshoot last?
This will depend on the session type you have booked and on your individual baby or family, however, newborn photoshoots usually last between 2 – 3 hours. Litter sitters are approximately 45 min – 1 hour and cake smash sessions between 1 – 1.5 hours.
What if my child doesn’t co-operate?
I have worked with babies and children for most of my working life. Before I was a photographer I worked in childcare and taught child care apprenterships so rest assured I have many tricks up my sleeve to get your little ones to engage with me.
What if my baby will not settle?
I am very used to working with babies and will always try to settle your little one myself. This avoids passing them back and forth and them becoming fussy when they smell Mummy’s milk. If it becomes obvious they need feeding or changing then I will pass them back to parents for food and cuddles.
What if I am unhappy with the photos?
We will arrange a viewing appointment 1 – 2 weeks after your photoshoot for you to review your collection and place an order. Whilst I am 100% confident you will love your photos you are under no obligation to place an order and can walk away without making a print purchase.
What do I do if my child / baby is unwell when we are due to have our photoshoot?
If your child or anyone in the household has been unwell in the 48 hours leading up to your photoshoot please contact me to discuss if resceduleing is neccessary. If your little one is unwell then we are unlikely to get the best from them and so delaying the session by a few days is often the best option. Even if they appear well and back to normal please still reach out because it is possible they remain contagious and as other little ones visit the studio it is important to ensure everyone is protected and hept healthy.
Do I have to pay extras for twins or tripets?
Absoulately not. Parents of multiples have enough extra expense to worry about so all sessions are priced the same. The only exception to this is if if you would like an additional cake for a cake smash photoshoot, where the additional cake would incur a cost.
How do I book?
