Dawn and Adam live local to me in Deeping and it was a pleasure to be asked to photograph their wedding day. They chose the stunning Barnsdale Hall, over looking Rutland water as the location for their special day. Barnsdale has breathtaking views across he lake and a calm tranquil feel about it. Dawn and Adam are a very relaxed couple and with cheeky Finley their son they make a beautiful friendly family. Prior to the wedding day Dawn and I discussed her wedding photos and her one request was for a photo on the veranda with the Lake as the backdrop. ‘No Problem’ I said, I’ve never had a wedding where we haven’t got outside yet!

When I arrived at Barnsdale Hall and joined Dawn and her fabulous bridesmaid’s everyone was very calm and relaxed and preparations were on schedule, however the weather was looking a little gloomy. I always remind my brides that rain on your wedding day is good luck but secretly hope that it is a passing shower and won’t dampen the spirit of the day! However once the rain started it did not stop and the wedding was set to be my wettest yet! Undeterred we improvised and moved the ceremony room around for formal group photographs and enjoyed a golf buggy ride across to the main building to make use of the beautiful reception and bridal suite for indoor bridal portraits. We even braved indoor confetti.

The ceremony and wedding breakfast were beautiful and I thank Dawn and Adam for including myself and Phillipa within your numbers for the meal. It was lovely to be able to chat to the guests and hear more about both of you. After a relaxed afternoon, with lots of fun and laughter, preparations got underway for the final formalities of the day, cutting the cake and first dance, however just as this was being organised I spotted the most beautiful sky. I always discuss with my couples how they would like to proceed in the event of this happening, explaining that it is a window of opportunity and sometimes we only have moments to capture the shot so ask if they would like me to order them outside if such a situation occurs. Thankfully Dawn and Adam had agreed to me ushering them outside and I truly believe that this one photograph will make up for all the rain off the day.
