I have known Lisa and Gerry for a number of years and was truly honoured when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. Every couple is unique and special in their own way but I always feel the pressure slightly more when the couple are personal friends of mine. After lots of planning the big day finally arrived and I headed off to Orton Hall. My assistant for the day Pippa, from PS Photography Ltd had not photographed a wedding at Orton Hall before so I completed a walk through and briefed her on the timetable and plans for the day, here starts my excitement. Orton Hall has lovely grounds including a beautiful field out the back. As we walk out I am greeted by a bed of blue on the little woodland, Bluebells being my favourite flower I was delighted by their presence and noted their position for later in the day.

We headed upstairs where preparations were in full swing. Abbie from Luxe Beauty was working her magic on the bridesmaids’ makeup and Hannah was busy creating beautiful bridal hair. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and this really shines through in the photographs.

After assisting with capturing the bridal details such as the dress, bouquet and shoes, Pippa headed back downstairs to capture the details within the ceremony room and to greet the groomsmen. As always Pippa did a fabulous job working with the men to create some relaxed shots before the service.

After a final check in the mirror we have a few moments to capture some stunning bridal portraits before Lisa has a quick chat with the registrar.

Having two wedding Photographers meant that as I captured Lisa walking down to the ceremony room with a traditional front image, Pippa was able to hang back and capture a different angle and show Lisa’s arrival from a different perspective.

Meanwhile the ceremony room is a buzz of excitement and after a slight hiccup with the music the service begins. Gerry was most definitely one of the most emotional grooms I have witnessed to date, and the service was full of tears, laughter and a fist pump on being announced husband and wife.

Lisa and Gerry were very lucky, a May wedding and just perfect weather, the guests were able to retire to the patio for Pimms and canapés while we worked though the formal photography. It really was lovely capturing the guests and the relaxed images demonstrate the relaxed, fun feel of the day.

The speeches were full of more emotion, laughter and tears all round and surprise speeches from all the ushers, all were truly heartfelt and even caught me wiping a tear or two away.

And in true Gerry style the best was saved for last and an entertaining first dance rounded of the formal proceedings. The couple and guests (and me) were in fits of giggles as no one knew what Gerry was going to-do next!

I love every wedding I capture and enjoy the variety of each one. Lisa and Gerry certainly had a wedding that reflected their fun, friendly, family orientated personalities. I hope that I did them proud by recording the day exactly how it was.
