Wedding Photography – Woodlands Hotel, Spalding

Mr and Mrs Molson Wedding Photography

Jayne and John have had a bumpy ride to reach their wedding day and it was a true delight to provide Wedding Photography for their special day on 22nd June 2018 at The Woodlands Hotel, Spalding, Lincolnshire.  Jayne and John have been a couple for over 25 years however decided to tie the knot ready for Jayne’s retirement this coming September.  The wedding day was originally set for December 2017 and everything was in place.   The guests arrived, Jayne settled into the hotel and began preparing for the day, even I had arrived at the venue and began photographing wedding details and the guests arriving, however everyone at the hotel was unaware that the groom had been taken ill and rushed to hospital a couple of hours before they were due to marry.  Sadly the wedding ceremony had to be called off and attention turned to John’s health.   It was a relief to hear a few days later that he was on the mend and would make a full recovery.

John took full responsibility for organising the 2nd wedding day, taking care of all the details right down to making personalised order of service cards, sending out new wedding invitations and choosing Jaynes beautiful new wedding bouquet.   The new wedding date was scheduled to be a selective guest list with a wonderful intimate feel and only 21 guests.  This did not prevent the couple and their guests enjoying a day full of love and laughter and creating wonderful memories with their nearest and dearest.  The wedding breakfast was served around one large table which added to the intimacy of the day.

It was an absolute delight to share in Mr and Mrs Molson’s special day and capture their love for one enough.  Here are some highlights of their wedding photography.

When James and Liene first came to chat to me about their wedding day, I instantly warmed to their bubbly fun personalities and knew it would be a wedding day to remember. They had chosen to have a very intimate wedding ceremony with only 10 guests at the service and wedding breakfast with many more joining them for the evening celebrations. This is the smallest ceremony I have photographed to date and it was a true honour to be a part of it.

Their wedding took place on what was undoubtedly the coldest day of the 2017! Sub zero conditions coupled with a beautiful blue sky created a challenging yet beautiful backdrop for the wedding photographs at the Ship Inn near Spalding and at the extra special spot that the couple had found for us to detour too for special seasonal photographs in a field of Christmas trees.

Liene and James, thank you for choosing me to capture your wedding day, here is your story x

    Why Choose an Engagement Photoshoot?

Many Photographers, myself included, offer a pre-wedding photoshoot or engagement shoot as part of their wedding packages. During wedding consultation meetings couples often ask me why they need more photos as a couple when they will have loads taken on their wedding day. Hopefully by the end of this it will be clear that there are many benefits to opting for an engagement photoshoot.

It is easy to overlook the ‘engaged’ time within your relationship. Once that ring is on your finger life revolves around planning the big day, an engagement shoot is a great way to mark this significant milestone within your relationship and record the start of the next chapter of your lives together.

A pre-wedding Photoshoot is a great opportunity to practise for the big day. I’m sure that you haven’t had many opportunities to create fun, relaxed and romantic photos of you together as a couple. Having a pre-wedding engagement shoot is a fantastic chance to work with your wedding photographer and have some fun. Find out how they work while they learn about you as a couple. It is a chance to laugh and celebrate your love for one another in a romantic relaxed environment.

For me as a photographer, it really does help with the preparation and planning for your big day. On your wedding day timings are tight and nerves are running high, having spent some time with you previously in front of the camera I have a better understanding of what will make you smile and what posing and styling works naturally for you as a couple.

You will probably spend more time with your photographer than any other person on your wedding day, so having a pre-wedding shoot and spending time with them ahead of the big day helps to reduce tension and any embarrassment you may feel in front of the camera.

More and more couples either have children from previous relationships or have started their families before getting married. It naturally follows that the children are a big part of the wedding proceedings. Including your children in your pre-wedding photoshoot is great fun and helps them to overcome the nerves they may have around strangers and prepare them for being in front of the camera on the big day.

Your engagement photos are actually very useful. Many of my couples have included photos from their pre-wedding shoot within their wedding planning, on invitations, order of service or a signing board at the wedding.

So please put some consideration into having a pre-wedding engagement or couples photoshoot with your wedding photographer and capture some extra special memories.

The wedding of Mr and Mrs Papworth at Whaplode Manor, Near Spalding, Lincolnshire

      3rd September 2017

I first met Chris at a camera club when I started out in photography, we quickly became firm friends and over time he began helping me out assisting at weddings. Kathryn and Chris have been a couple for as long as I have known Chris and although it was evident that they were a perfect match I never thought he would make an honest woman of her. So, when my Facebook profile popped up with announcements of their engagement just after Christmas this year I was shocked but very delighted for them both.

I knew straight away what venue they would book as 2 years ago Chris had assisted me at a particularly venue and had said ‘If I ever get married, this is where I would like it to be’, and sure enough only a couple of weeks later Chris called me and asked If I was available to photograph their wedding at Whaplode Manor, near Spalding, Lincolnshire on July 15th. I don’t doubt that Chris and Kathryn had offers from many of our mutual friends to capture their day, so being asked to be their wedding photographer was a real privilege and honour.

The day was truly perfect in every way. Kathryn got ready at their home surrounded by her children and grandchildren, there was lots of fun and laughter and a wonderful atmosphere while Feroza from Feroza’s Artistry worked her magic on everyones hair and makeup.
Kathryn looked truly beautiful as she arrived at Whaplode Manor and Chris scrubbed up pretty well too. They married surrounded by their nearest and dearest in a beautiful emotional ceremony. Considering how many weddings I have captured I still get a little chocked up watching people I care about make their promises to one another and the speeches were on another level, a massive well done to the best man for raising the bar. I’ll let you know when someone tops yours.
Mr and Mrs Papworth thank you for allowing me the honour of capturing your day.
