Kaylea and Lee at The Haycock Hotel, Wansford
18th October 2016
I first me this lovely couple back in April 2015 when we met to chat about their plans and wedding photography. We hit it off straight away and I soon knew that it would be another fantastic wedding day and we would capture some amazing wedding photos for them to treasure always. They chose to marry at their local church in Yaxley, Peterborough, which was already a firm favourite of mine, with a wonderfully relaxed vicar and a great surrounding area for formal wedding photographs. The reception was held at The Haycock Hotel, Hansford, not far from Peterborough which has beautiful gardens and access down to the river 🙂 Whenever a wedding or reception is held at a venue that I have not worked at previously I ensure that I visit ahead of the day so that I can have a look around, meet the staff and plan suitable spots to use for the couple portraits of their wedding collection. I had heard many wonderful things about The Haycock and when I visited I was not disappointed. I instantly knew we were spoilt for choice with great backdrops to capture both relaxed and formal wedding images.
I attend regular training to learn new areas or build on the skills I already have and continually read and research new things. 2016 has seen me train with some of the world’s top photographers. In April, I spent 2 intense days with Kelly from Little Pieces Photography by Kelly Brown who has won photographer of the year many times in Australia. This training really helped me home in my posing and styling for Newborn Photography. In May, I spent a fantastic day finally learning an area of photography that I had longed to develop. Fran from Fran Stephenson Photography showed me the skills needed to create stunning Fairy Photos and last Sujata from But Natural Photography share her secrets for amazing outdoor portraits, something that I can apply to my wedding photography as well as outdoor family photography. In 2017 I am spending a whole week in Lake district learning lots more techniques and I cannot wait to get stuck in.
Everyone set of for the church in lots of time and I arrived to find a the church full of family and friends. I waited outside for the bridal cars to arrive and wonder how anxious Lee because by the delay caused due to one of the bridesmaid cars taking a detour?
The service was one of the most emotional I’ve witnessed and it is clear to see how much Kaylie and Lee adore each other and how happy all their family and friends were to watch them make their vows!
Back at the hotel we let the guests enjoy arrival drinks while I snuck off with the newly weds to create some magical wedding photos that I hope they will treasure always. They made capturing the love between them so easy, the intimacy and bond clear to see. We created a mixture of formal style couple portraits, some relaxed but emotional images and thanks to the random phone box library a great fun quirky wedding shot. Be sure to zoom in and note the titles of the book choices.
After the wedding breakfast the speeches were equally as emotional with lots of tears and laughter from everyone, include an extra heart felt speech from Maid of Honuor, sister of the Bride, Candice.
It truly was a perfect day for the sweetest couple. Thank you for letting me share your day. Here is your story.
