Aimee and Paul's wedding - Donnington Park Farm

A wedding with a twist!

Aimee and Paul Carless’s wedding photography had been booked in my diary for almost 2 years and it was a delight to finally capture their day.

Aimee and Paul have been together for a number of years however Aimee has been working hard on her nursing qualifications and wanted to wait until her student days were over before tying the knot.  Aimee tells me that every time I shared another wedding story on my blog or wedding photog on my Facebook Page it added to the excitement of her wedding day.

The couple married at Donnington Park Farm Hotel, in Castle Donnington between Christmas and New Year!  Aimee didn’t disclosure the theme of their wedding day to me until days before the big day.  Its a shame she couldn’t see the delight on my face or hear my squeals when she told me it was to be a Harry Potter themed wedding!  That was it, my mind was racing with ideas and possibilities and I was excited to see the results.

Aimee made all the accessories herself, there were golden snitches decorating the ceremony and reception room, the table plan was, you guessed it, the Hogwarts houses and all the guests received wands as wedding favours.  Aimee’s wedding bouquet was made from the pages of one of the Harry Potter books.

On arriving at the venue we were greeted by the ‘janitor’ who showed us to the room where Aimee was getting ready,  the janitor later reappeared in his suit to only reveal himself as the Bride Father!   That sense of humour pretty much summed up the day, there was lots of laughter, fun and tears throughout and a truly beautiful service for a wonderful couple.

Not to be deterred by the wedding venues ‘no confetti’ guidelines we had fun with bubbles instead and had a great time creating some fun wedding photos, I had a great time adding the special effects to some images to recreate some Harry Potter Duels and turning a regular woodland area into the ‘Forbidden Forrest’, it was fun to push the boundaries of my editing skills to create these themed wedding photographs.

Thank you to Aimee, Paul and their families for making us feel so welcome and thank you for choosing Slice of Life Photography to capture your wedding Day.

Here’s your story
