Louth Wedding Storytelling Photography

Mr and Mrs Krohnen

27th September 2017
Danni and Ash booked me to be their wedding photographer back in 2016. They specifically wanted lots of relaxed reportage wedding photos telling the story of their day, so I set about ensuring that I captured lots of moments throughout the day as well as ensuring that more formal parts of the photography were undertaken in a manner that created emotive images showing the love that they clearly share.
As their wedding day neared I started to panic a little as it became apparent that my reliable little car was on its last legs and I worried that it would not make the journey to Louth for their special day!  Not to be deterred and to ensure that I did not encounter hiccups on the wedding day I begged the garage that was supplying my new car to allow me to have it a couple of days early.   All well and good except that collecting the car the day before meant I was still unsure of the controls, this created much amusement for the newlyweds when it came to us leaving the church to head to the reception venue.  Whilst they waited in the lovely VW camper van for me to pull away they were highly entertained as I struggled to get my wing mirrors to return to the outward position for driving!

A special mention needs to go to Danni’s Mum who made the unique bouquets and also to Danni’s cousin who is an amazing seamstress and made the bridesmaids dresses and Danni’s stunning wedding dress.  I wonder how many hours she spent sewing on sequins?

Mr and Mrs Krohnen married at the local church close to their home and enjoyed a fun filled reception at the local golf club.   They were surrounded by wonderful family and friends but, sadly the Groom’s best man was unable to make it back from abroad to attend the wedding, however his presence was still evident in the fantastic video speech he was able to provide for his 2nd in command to play.
Danni and Ash truly are a perfect match and I wish them well for a long and happy marriage.  Thank you for choosing me to capture your wedding day.

Newborn Photography Training Day in Spalding, Lincolnshire

    23rd September 2017

    Newborn Photography Training Day

It is so important within any trade to continue to learn and develop, otherwise your work becomes stagnant and outdated. Ongoing training ensure that knowledge and skills are up to date and enable professionals to deliver the best possible service. Ensuring I am able to provide my clients with amazing photographs of their little ones is so important to me and I want to ensure they feel confident in my abilities to care for their newborn and offer them an amazing experience. It is for these reasons that I continue to undertake regular training with other photographers.

As I have mentioned in previous blogs I under took a number of group training courses to improve my skills within Newborn Photography, Fairy Photoshoots, Outdoor photo sessions and wedding photography during 2016. This year I chose to invite another photographer to my studio to provide training on a one to one basis. Claire joined me at the beginning of September (once the craziness of the summer holidays was over) to spend time supporting me to grow within my newborn photography. Although I have previously trained within this area I wanted to streamline my work and be able to perfect poses further. Claire is also an expert within Newborn safety so was able to offer further advice and guidance to help me ensure that babies are safe and well cared for during their newborn photoshoot.

Claire and I spent a full day working with two beautiful newborns in my studio in Spalding. Working on a 1:1 basis with Claire allowed me to get much more hands on than in a group training environment and we were able to work on areas that were specific to my personal needs. Consequently, we spent time working on some of the poses I find more challenging and looked at how to still provide a full and varied gallery of newborn photos with babies that do not want to sleep or are not happy in the traditional posing that newborn photography is known for.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Claire for her amazing support and advise during the course. I cannot wait to attend the training retreat next year to learn more from Claire. And an extra thank you for bringing the stunning Unicorn bonnet with you. I have ordered and received my own now and I cannot wait to use it.

A massive thank you also to Elijah and Emilia’s Mummies for joining us during the day and allowing me to work with your two beautiful babies. Being able to work with babies (rather than posing dolls) during training is so invaluable to photographers when developing our skills. Both babies were amazing little models and allowed myself and Claire to create some beautiful images.

I have already noticed changes within newborn photography sessions that have taken place in the last two weeks and I cannot wait to continue to grow and develop to bring amazing baby photography to my clients.

      Whaplode Manor, Lincolnshire 2017 Wedding

The wedding of Mr and Mrs Papworth at Whaplode Manor, Near Spalding, Lincolnshire

      3rd September 2017

I first met Chris at a camera club when I started out in photography, we quickly became firm friends and over time he began helping me out assisting at weddings. Kathryn and Chris have been a couple for as long as I have known Chris and although it was evident that they were a perfect match I never thought he would make an honest woman of her. So, when my Facebook profile popped up with announcements of their engagement just after Christmas this year I was shocked but very delighted for them both.

I knew straight away what venue they would book as 2 years ago Chris had assisted me at a particularly venue and had said ‘If I ever get married, this is where I would like it to be’, and sure enough only a couple of weeks later Chris called me and asked If I was available to photograph their wedding at Whaplode Manor, near Spalding, Lincolnshire on July 15th. I don’t doubt that Chris and Kathryn had offers from many of our mutual friends to capture their day, so being asked to be their wedding photographer was a real privilege and honour.

The day was truly perfect in every way. Kathryn got ready at their home surrounded by her children and grandchildren, there was lots of fun and laughter and a wonderful atmosphere while Feroza from Feroza’s Artistry worked her magic on everyones hair and makeup.
Kathryn looked truly beautiful as she arrived at Whaplode Manor and Chris scrubbed up pretty well too. They married surrounded by their nearest and dearest in a beautiful emotional ceremony. Considering how many weddings I have captured I still get a little chocked up watching people I care about make their promises to one another and the speeches were on another level, a massive well done to the best man for raising the bar. I’ll let you know when someone tops yours.
Mr and Mrs Papworth thank you for allowing me the honour of capturing your day.

      Marie
